One Love Foundation Reflects on the Past Three Years, Looks Ahead and Thanks Supporters
May 3, 2013 marks the third anniversary of University of Virginia lacrosse player Yeardley Reynolds Love’s murder and the birth of the One Love Foundation. In three years, the foundation has undergone a plethora of changes to evolve into an organization dedicated to ending Relationship Violence through education and technology. Accomplishments include an award winning PSA and danger assessment app, One Love Lite. In fall of 2013, the foundation will release an educational piece unlike anything existing in the Relationship Violence space.
The foundation has received support from across the nation in the form of donations, letters and third party events over the past three years. Both the foundation and its trustees, Yeardley’s mother Sharon Love and sister Lexie Love, express inexplicable gratitude for the outpouring of support.
“I am dedicated to preventing other families from knowing the heart break and loss I have felt. It’s reassuring to see how many people share the commitment to my and the foundation’s mission,” Foundation Trustee Sharon Love said. “I really never could have predicted how many people would reach out. I’m truly thankful for the overwhelming support from communities all around the country.”
The foundation doesn’t intend to slow progress, and devotedly continues to develop technology to educate the public on the prevalence and complexities of Relationship Violence through the creation of an innovative educational presentation. The foundation has partnered with Renegade Communications, of Hunt Valley, Md. to produce a video curriculum that can be delivered by virtually anyone and addresses Relationship Violence to 16-24 year olds nationwide. The goal is to reach 500,000 students in 2014, its first full year of distribution.
Both the foundation and its trustees, Sharon and Lexie Love, are excited for what the future holds for One Love Foundation. They hope the One Love community is happy with the progress made and continues to support the growth of the foundation.
