Why others are giving to this growing movement

I Give Because. . .

My daughter is a member of UVA class of 2010. She didn’t know Yeardley Love, but she was a classmate and was deeply affected by Yeardley’s tragic death. Yeardley is forever in our hearts; young people NEED to recognize and understand the signs of unhealthy relationships and appreciate what real love looks like. God bless the Love family and One Love organization!

I Give Because. . .

Because I care, because I have a teenage son, because I have a teenage daughter, and because I want them to have healthy relationships-to know that they deserve that. And most of all because I have always been deeply saddened by Yeardley’s story.

We will never have another friend like Yards – she was the best and you couldn’t help but smile when you were around her! Missing her everyday and so grateful for the work that the One Love Foundation is doing and how many lives it has touched over the past seven years. Thank you so much for all that you do and we can’t wait to see all the ways you continue to grow and touch people!

This movement is personally important to me and raising awareness will help others learn about this issue.

My 25 year old daughter had 2 relationships that could have ended in violence (one in HS and one in college). Thankfully with our support, intervention and counseling she is in a healthy relationship today.

I Give Because. . .

For four years in high school I was physically, emotionally, verbally and sexually abused by my ex-boyfriend. I was afraid for my life. When I went to college, I became a member of Alpha Chi Omega, whose philanthropy is near and dear to my heart – domestic abuse awareness. For three years I ran a 5K called “Run for Love” to help shed light on this issue and raise money for the One Love Foundation and House of Ruth, a women’s shelter in DC. This issue must be talked about, and I’m happy to continue the fight against intimate partner violence.

The One Love Foundation is on the ground every single day talking to students one on one and in groups. The amount of effort they put into mobilizing students across the nation is nothing short of incredible. This foundation has my life long support and I cannot wait to see where they take the movement next. #thatslove

Yeardley and I ran in the same circles as lacrosse players the same age in the DC/Baltimore area. This issue was made even more dear to my heart by the chilling proximity. I’m a lawyer now, and I donate pro-bono time to victims of domestic abuse in part because of the impact her story has made upon me.
