ABOUT THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR POSITION

One Love’s campaign is equal parts national and local in its scope.  Nationally, One Love has created a mission, messaging and educational tools that standardize the language we use to teach young people about healthy and unhealthy relationships.  Locally, One Love works on the ground with young people, schools, youth-facing community groups and social service partners to ensure that our programs are used in a way that is right for each community.  Starting in 2017, One Love established on-the-ground teams in four cities to increase the velocity of our efforts in engagement and activation. By serving communities full-time, we know we can amplify a conversation about relationships that is changing and saving lives.

In each regional office, Executive Directors are the lead architects of the local campaign, charged with expanding, diversifying and deepening participation.  True believers in our approach to prevention, Executive Directors play a critical business development/evangelist role, resourcefully identifying new ways to expand One Love’s educational footprint and raise funds to support both local and national work.  Understanding that partnering is at the core of our work, EDs also oversee our program outreach efforts, experimenting with new strategies to engage individuals and partner organizations in deeper and mutually beneficial ways. Their on-the-ground efforts can then be used as models for community engagement in other cities as well.

Key Responsibilities & Outcomes:

  • Develop and execute on a three-year strategic plan that will articulate a vision for One Love’s regional growth in four key areas:
    • education of young people
    • recruitment and development of local leaders to drive the movement
    • expansion of partnerships with key stakeholders from domestic violence partners to youth facing community organizations
    • expansion of the financial base of support for this work
  • Build, support and develop a high performing team on the ground
  • Act as local advocate for this work recruiting collaborators who share our vision and believe in the power of communities, and young people in particular, to achieve ambitious goals
  • Closely collaborate with One Love national’s leadership team as well as other Regional EDs to continue to:
    • iterate and evolve our model for impact
    • innovate to develop new approaches to education and engagement
    • honestly assessing how goals are being met
  • Work closely with other EDs to understand what is working or not working so that best practices can be shared across the country
  • Keep a constant eye on progress in order to develop more concrete measures of success in changing the statistics around relationship abuse

 

QUALIFICATIONS & ATTRIBUTES

Professional Qualifications and Experience

  • 15 years professional experience in business development, community engagement, fundraising and partnership development and/or related fields
  • Accomplished in building or scaling, including in early stage contexts
  • Successful track record of fundraising, community engagement and expansion
  • Experienced in balancing creativity, strategic planning and execution (imagining, planning and doing) simultaneously
  • Has leveraged promising early engagement into something permanent and impactful
  • Exceptional relationship manager who can recruit a diverse collection of individuals, schools, 
foundations, and organizations to this cause

  • Deep passion for One Love’s mission and movement
  • “Big thinker” with a strong interest in overseeing the growth of the campaign locally through programmatic expansion, growth of the 
fundraising base, and empowerment of local leaders
  • Demonstrates a generosity of spirit & predisposition to believe in positive intent in people; applies this orientation internally & externally (works against territorialism and us versus them dynamics)
  • Energized by fluidity, and highly adaptable to rapidly evolving and changing environments
  • “Light the world on fire”, action-oriented approach to work
  • A polished communicator and excellent writer, able to effectively articulate the case for One Love support
  • High energy, enthusiasm, and a strong work ethic
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities at once and to galvanize a team to do so as well
  • Collaborative, team-driven style
  • Superior organizational, time-management and follow-up skills
  • Goals and metrics oriented
  • Entrepreneurial mindset that embraces experimentation and can quickly pivot where required
