Nonprofit hosts 5k walk/run at Maryland Zoo, bringing together athletes, families and friends

Baltimore, Maryland – One Love Foundation, a national nonprofit dedicated to ending relationship abuse and empowering young people to see the signs of healthy and unhealthy relationships, is headed back to the Maryland Zoo! In partnership with the Baltimore Ravens, One Love will be hosting its annual Move for Love event at the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore this year, giving athletes, families and friends a fantastic opportunity to get outside, enjoy the zoo and learn the importance of healthy relationships. This year’s event will be on a Friday night, giving participants and families a wonderful opportunity to wind down from the week together.

Julie Myers became CEO of One Love almost a year ago, after decades of experience coaching lacrosse at the University of Virginia. She also was the coach of Yeardley Love, a former lacrosse player at Virginia who was killed by her ex-boyfriend. One Love was founded by Yeardley’s family and is named for her.

“So much of our lives are now online,” said Myers. “One Love believes in connection and in being healthy. This event gives families a chance to come together, get outside, enjoy time together and celebrate healthy relationships,” she said.

The event, sponsored by a number of local organizations, in addition to the Ravens, will include the 5K run/walk at 5:30PM, family fun activities for the family before and after the run, food trucks, and an opportunity to hear more from youth about their experience with One Love.
