The recent reports of sexual violence at Cornell University are deeply troubling. Our hearts are with the survivor at the center of this story and with all those who have experienced sexual or relationship violence.

While this moment is unfolding on one campus, the conversations it has sparked extend far beyond Upstate New York. Sexual and relationship violence affect students and communities across the country. According to RAINN, approximately 1 in 4 undergraduate women and 1 in 14 undergraduate men experience rape or sexual in college. These numbers are a powerful reminder of our shared responsibility to listen to and support survivors, recognize the signs of abuse, and take meaningful action to create safer communities.

At One Love, we believe education is a critical part of prevention. Young people deserve the language and tools to recognize healthy and unhealthy behaviors, understand and respect boundaries and consent, and know how to speak up when they see someone experiencing or perpetrating unhealthy or abusive behaviors. Schools, universities and adults who support young people play an important role in creating safe environments for those seeking help and fostering space for relationship health education.

We cannot allow these conversations to end when the headlines fade. One Love remains committed to empowering young people and communities everywhere with the knowledge and tools to build healthier, safer relationships.
