ODOL-Sacramento

SACRAMENTO

To end relationship abuse, we need all young people to have access to One Love’s critical education and we can’t do that without the help of lawmakers. That’s why in February 2023, One Love gathered 30 high school and college youth leaders for the inaugural One Day for One Love in Sacramento.

Our goal for this event was for our youth leaders to meet with California decision-makers, and to advocate for One Love’s relationship abuse prevention education be used to fulfill the California Healthy Youth Act (CHYA) requirements throughout the state.

In addition to 24 meetings with elected officials, our youth leaders joined the California Partnership to End Domestic Violence for an Orange Day Rally in front of the Capitol and hosted a Lunch and Learn with state staffers. One Day for One Love Sacramento is only the beginning of our broader advocacy strategy. Our students walked away from this event eager to participate in future leadership and advocacy opportunities.
